Nintendo of America Holiday SMT

This post was written by Mark Nazarino, KOMO Operations Technical Supervisor:

Nintendo SMT 001My day started at 2:30am at KOMO. Nintendo had a big announcement that needed to be shared to all major media outlets before the upcoming holidays. Nintendo was to lower the price of the ever popular Nintendo Wii to $199 and were gearing up to release a couple new games including a new Wii Fit exercise game and a four-player Super Mario. KOMO Productions Services conducted a Satellite Media Tour with Nintendo to transmit the announcement to 15 TV stations across the United States. Stations included were CNBC, WBFF Baltimore, KUSA Denver and Reuters to name a few. President and COO Reggie Fils-Amine of Nintendo America broadcasted out of studio C to make the announcement.

Charles was visiting the TV station for a news interview with our Spanish speaking channel KUNS TV Univision. Charles owns a non-profit company called InterConnection . KUNS was excited to interview Charles and learn more about his company and the efforts its doing around the world.  InterConnection, a philanthropical company provides computers to underserved people and communities around the world. With the help of Microsoft and other business partners, Charles will be traveling to Chile to complete the setup of InterConnection distributing center.

Cesari Direct Multi-cam HD Production for Brilliant Frame

CesariAug2009 001Cesari Direct, a regular client of KPS is back for another large scale production. They are in the business of producing amazing infomercials. More than likely you’ve seen an infomercial that Cesari Direct has produced. Some of their clients include: Juice Man, George Forman Grill, Oxy Clean, Rug Doctor and Sonic Care Toothbrush.

The infomercial promoted front loading picture frames from a company called Brilliant Frame. When Cesari Direct comes in to produce an infomercial, they make full use of our studio space. Studio B became the producers area where progress was monitored outside of the control room. Studio C was transformed into a residential interior to showcase the Brilliant Frame picture frames.

Lou Tice is the founder of the Pacific Institute which pushes the boundaries of excellence through his teachings and a whole host of videos aimed at making individuals, groups and companies succeed. The production brought in an entire crew from KOMO utilizing Studio B as the green room and Studio C as the production studio. It was a 2 day, multi-camera production with Steve Wilson directing out of Control Room 2. Students from the local Gene Juarez Academy were brought in for this highly educational experience. On the 2nd day of production, a surprize visit from Gene Juarez himself brought excitement and enthusiasm to the students attending his school, giving them an extra boost of encouragement and a chance to meet the founder of the Gene Juarez Salons & Spas.

Pat Cashman HD Production

PatCashman 051When Pat Cashman and Kevin Raichl were planning their latest production, they chose Fisher Plaza’s studio for their location for Grover’s Electrical and Plumbing. This was an all day shoot that finished early thanks to good organization and planning. While Kevin Raichl of Visual Thinking Northwest Inc. was filming one scene, Nick Junke was busy lighting the next scene making the move from one location to another a breeze. Efficiency is a key factor in many productions because time is money and every set up takes a substantial amount of time. Pat brought in a group of actors and HD production team. DW facilitated the movement between locations at Fisher Plaza. The production was shot in Studio B and C with additional filminng in Sport Restaurant located on the street level at Fisher Plaza. As seen in the production photos, a number of different scenes were created as well as some green screen footage.  A lot of clients choose Fisher Plaza and KOMO Production Services for their productions because of the flexibility of our building and the expertise of our staff. I hope you enjoy the behind-the-scenes look at this production. Also included are a few of the completed spots edited by Visual Thinking Northwest Inc.

Miracle Makers celebrates 25 years!

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Seattle’s Children’s Miracle Makers telethon. The 4 hour telethon was produced by KOMO Production Services’ own D.W. Clark. He wrote, produced, directed and edited the live televison special… and even produced the promotional spots for the show. The broadcast on May 30, 2009 brought together KOMO 4 hosts Steve Pool, Mike Dardis and Sabra Gertsch who did an excellent job engaging viewers and keeping the phones ringing. This year’s efforts raised $147,000 in pledges and sponsorships!
